Frequently Asked Questions

What Does Your Organization Do?

Indigenous Association is a grass-roots organization. We bring people together.  We serve as a connector, a space holder, and a catalyst for supporting community-led programs that strengthen health, education, cultural knowledge, and leadership.

Our programs are community led and culturally grounded programs.  Initiatives are created with community members in response to community identified needs. Indigenous educators, knowledge holders, and professionals design and lead our workshops and events, co-lead or bring in outside excerpts.  Our work is relational and proactive.

Every program is shaped by Indigenous cultura , relationships, and teachings, so the impact goes far beyond the moment—it ripples outward, creating lasting The range of work we do is vast. Whether we are organizing a workshop that is focused on teaching a traditional craft or co-hosting an event with a community partner, we ensure that we integrate Indigenous knowledge, culture, perspective, and practices into the occasion. Many of the programs and activities that we organize have been initiated by community members that see a need, have an idea, or see a great opportunity to collaborate. This is what sets us apart as a Native led organization. Our focus is on empowering our community – not letting funding sources dictate what our priorities should be. We are building deep and meaningful reciprocal relationships throughout our community, and through this work, we are determined to unite, connect and strengthen the Indigenous community in the Fargo/Moorhead area and beyond.
